UpLead review: what it is and who it fits
UpLead is a B2B contact and company database with a search screen, filters and exports to a CRM or a spreadsheet file. Its pricing page describes a free trial, then Essentials, Plus and Professional plans, and says one credit equals one contact. That suits a founder, an agency owner or a first sales hire who wants to buy lists of named decision makers on published tiers and have each email checked at the moment of download.
This review reads UpLead's pricing page, help center, data page and terms, dated October 29, 2026, and sets them beside rivals' own pages. Amounts stay on the live pricing page, which has a monthly view and an annual view.
What one credit buys, and when it is spent
- Unlocking a contact's email, phone or mobile number costs one credit. So does exporting a contact to a CRM or downloading it to a spreadsheet for the first time, according to the help center.
- Company details and limited contact details are visible before a credit is spent. Unlocking a company's email pattern costs one credit for that company.
- Once a contact sits in your Downloads list, you can re-download or export it again without spending another credit.
- Enrichment works differently: credits come off up front for every row processed, and a credit returns when a row finds no match.
- The terms add that unused credits do not roll over to the next subscription term, and that a contact whose company information changes can count as an additional credit.
What the accuracy claim covers
UpLead's pages describe a 95% accuracy guarantee and real-time email verification when you unlock or export. Each email comes back as valid, accept-all or invalid. Accept-all means the mail server accepts every address, which blocks full validation and carries a higher bounce risk, according to the help center.
The download setting changes what you pay for. With Valid Only you are charged credits for valid emails only. With Valid and Accept All both are charged. With All Available Emails every record is charged, invalid ones included. UpLead's own help article on bounces adds that the accuracy figure describes an address when it was verified and does not promise zero bounces, because your sending setup also matters. The data page cites a 97% figure for the valid status, so ask support which number applies and how a credit refund for a bounce is claimed. The home page promises refunds for bounces and poor data. All of these are the vendor's own statements. The same pages carry customer quotes and return-on-investment figures chosen by the vendor. The FTC's endorsement guides, 16 CFR Part 255, define an endorsement as an advertising, marketing or promotional message, so read these quotes as the vendor's marketing rather than an independent measurement.
Plans and limits, without amounts
- Free trial: seven days, per the pricing page. The help center says you enter payment details to activate it, and that an account not canceled by day 7 is billed for the Essentials annual plan.
- Essentials: the entry paid plan, with verified emails, mobile direct dials and CRM integration.
- Plus: adds data enrichment, email pattern intel, technographics, advanced filters and suppression list uploads.
- Professional: annual billing only, with custom seats and credits. It adds API access, bi-directional CRM sync, team management and a dedicated success manager.
- Buyer intent data: the pricing page lists it under Professional, while UpLead's ZoomInfo comparison page says Plus and Professional. Confirm the plan before paying.
- Seats: Free, Essentials and Plus are single-user accounts. Only Professional is a team account. The UpLead pricing guide explains how to work out a cost per usable contact.
Renewal and cancellation terms to read before you start
UpLead's help center says monthly plans carry no long-term contract, renew each month and can be canceled at any time, while annual plans ask for cancellation 60 days before the renewal date. The terms say plans renew automatically for successive terms of the same length, fees are non-refundable and a plan canceled early ends at the end of its term. The terms set the 60-day notice before any renewal date without separating monthly plans, so ask which cancel-by date applies to yours.
Closing an account deletes unused credits, saved searches and past downloads, and the help center offers a paid pause option, the Hibernation Plan, as an alternative. Check these rules against the plan you pick and put the cancel-by date in a calendar before you start.
Who should look at another tool
- Teams that want a free plan to start: Apollo's pricing page lists a free Starter plan with no time limit, and Hunter's lists a free plan.
- Larger teams that want one platform with engagement, intent and conversation tools: UpLead vs ZoomInfo covers the quote-based route.
- Anyone who mainly needs phone numbers: compare how each vendor spends credits on a number, as the six-tool shortlist does.
The evidence behind this buying guidance
This guide draws on UpLead plans and pricing page, UpLead home page, UpLead page, Our Data, UpLead terms and conditions. Merchant-controlled records describe the provider’s own capabilities, terms or standards; they do not independently validate those claims. Other cited records provide additional context. A different publisher or a research, regulatory or certification label does not by itself establish independence, relevance or product validation.
